Neil Armstrong

Neil Armstrong was an American astronaut and the first person to ever set foot on the moon. He was born on August 5, 1930 in Wapakoneta, Ohio. Armstrong started his career as a naval aviator, flying combat missions in the Korean War and earning various awards, including the Air Medal and the Korean Service Medal. After the war, he joined the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) where he worked on a number of projects, including the X-15 rocket-powered aircraft and the lunar-landing program.
