Programme Type - Commercial Pilot License (CPL)

A Commercial Pilot License (CPL) allows the holder to be paid to fly as a pilot-in-command or co-pilot of an aircraft. In order to obtain a CPL, individuals must meet certain requirements set by the regulating authority, such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the United States. These requirements may include a minimum number of flight hours, a minimum age, and the completion of written and practical exams.Pilot training programs for the CPL typically include both classroom instruction and flight training. Classroom instruction covers topics such as aviation theory, navigation, and meteorology, while flight training allows students to gain hands-on experience flying an aircraft with a certified flight instructor.Holding a CPL allows pilots to fly a variety of aircraft for non-scheduled commercial operations, such as charter flights and aerial photography. It is also a stepping stone to obtaining an Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL), which is required to fly as a pilot-in-command for a scheduled airline.

Programme Type - Type Rating training

Type rating training is a specific type of pilot training that is required in order to fly certain types of aircraft. All commercial pilots, as well as some private pilots, are required to have a type rating in order to fly a particular make and model of aircraft.Type rating training typically involves both classroom instruction and flight training in the specific aircraft type.

Description - CAE

CAE has partnered with IndiGo to offer a new pilot training program called the IndiGo Cadet Pilot Programme – International Pathway. As part of this program, selected cadets will train at CAE academies in India and the USA to obtain a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) and an Airbus A320 Type Rating. Upon completion of the training, cadets will have the opportunity to fly as an A320 First Officer with IndiGo. This self-sponsored program has been jointly designed by CAE and IndiGo to provide aspiring pilots with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the aviation industry.

Course Outline

The unique IndiGo Cadet Pilot Programme is specifically designed for individuals with no previous flying experience who would like to embark on a career as a pilot.The programme comprises two phases of training.

Phase 1 - Commercial Pilot License with ME IR (CPL ME IR)

Domestic Pathway

International Pathway

Phase 2 – A320 Type Rating with Jet Introduction Training (JIT) & Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC)

The above training duration are excluding but not limited to DGCA licensing, visa applications, weather disruptions and remedials that might extend the duration of the cadet training.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the IndiGo Programme:

Must be between 18 and 32 years of age
Have a valid passport and the unrestricted right to live and work in India, with the ability to travel unrestricted worldwide
Fluent in English (verbal and written)
Able to obtain and maintain Indian DGCA Class 1 Medical Certificate
Minimum education qualification: 10+2 with minimum score of 51% / Grade Point 6 / Grade C1 – individually in each subject i.e. Physics / Mathematics / English or a higher degree in these subjects with minimum of 51%*
- Note-Engineering graduate with 51% or more aggregate exempt from score requirements for Physics and Mathematics in 10+2.
Candidates not possessing an Indian Class 1 medical can apply for the IndiGo Programme with a Class II medical, however they must possess an Indian Class 1 medical prior to commencing on the Programme.

CAE Gondia (NFTI)

CAE Gondia, also known as the National Flying Training Institute (NFTI), is a joint venture between CAE and the Airport Authority of India (AAI). Established in 2007, CAE Gondia offers high-quality pilot training programs for aspiring airline pilots. These programs combine classroom instruction with hands-on flight training and are designed to meet International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) standards. Upon successful completion of the program, cadet pilots receive a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) with an Instrument Rating (IR) and a Multi-Engine Rating (ME). CAE Gondia's training resources include a modern training fleet, advanced flight simulators, well-equipped classrooms, and a dedicated instructional staff.
