FTA has designed a training program that requires travel for cadets in only two countries. The program has four phases:

Phase 1: DGCA ground theory and examinations in India and FTA Pre-course Computer Based Training
Phase 2: ASA Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) and Multi-Engine Instrument Rating (MECIR) at FTA Adelaide
Phase 3: DGCA licence conversion flying module in India
Phase 4: Multi Crew Cooperation (MCC) at FTA and A320 type rating in Melbourne, Australia

Diamond DA40 Star

The DA40 aircraft is well-suited for initial pilot training. Its low speed handling capabilities and advanced Garmin 1000 aviation suite and Traffic Alert System make it an ideal platform for learning basic flying skills and achieving a commercial pilot license. It also provides a good foundation for instrument flying, thanks to its excellent situational awareness and safety features. Overall, the DA40 is an excellent choice for ab initio training.

Diamond DA42 Twin Star

During the multi-engine instrument flying phase, FTA prefers to use the DA42 Twinstar aircraft. This choice is based on the commonality of the cockpit with the DA40, which allows for a seamless transition and enhanced learning experience in the instrument flight rules (IFR) environment. The DA42's autopilot and glass cockpit features also provide a solid foundation for aspiring airline pilots. Overall, the DA42 is a reliable and effective choice for this phase of training.

Mudry CAP10

As part of our airline training courses, we offer comprehensive upset prevention and recovery training (UPRT). Cadets will begin learning about UPRT during the second module of training and will have the opportunity to engage in more advanced UPRT activities, including extreme UPRT in the Mudry CAP10 aircraft, as they progress through their studies. Our UPRT program is fully integrated into our course offerings, ensuring that our cadets receive thorough and comprehensive training in this important area.

Minimum Entry Requirements

Indian national or hold an overseas citizenship of India
Between 18 and 32 years at the time of application Fluent in English, both written and verbal .
Hold a 10+2 with at least 51% in each English, Maths and Physics from a recognised board or equivalent*
Have the ability to apply for an Australian Student Visa*
Have the ability to hold an unrestricted passport and the right to live and work in India
Have the ability to produce a Criminal Record Check basic disclosure certificate

Flight Safety, Operations and Flight Monitoring

At FTA, flight safety is a top priority. We take steps to ensure the wellbeing and safety of our cadets and their families, including by providing standard Traffic Collision and Avoidance systems on our aircraft and maintaining dedicated radio communication between our aircraft and operations room. In addition, FTA Flight Operations serves as the dedicated search and rescue node and is always staffed during flight operations. We also have our own helicopters on hand to assist with any search and rescue needs that may arise. Our in-house flight track monitoring system provides real-time tracking of both ground and airborne movements of FTA aircraft. These initiatives demonstrate our commitment to maintaining the highest levels of safety and security in all of our operations.
