Commercial Pilot License (CPL) Air Regulations Classes in accordance with DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) are the regulations enforced by the government of India to ensure air safety and airworthiness of aircrafts. The DGCA prescribes the various classes of aircrafts that can be flown, the qualifications and experience needed to be eligible for the license and the airworthiness requirements.
The DGCA divides CPL Air Regulations Classes into three categories: Aircrafts with maximum certified takeoff mass of less than 5700 kg, Aircrafts with maximum certified takeoff mass of more than 5700 kg and Aircrafts with maximum certified takeoff mass of more than 12500 kg. Each class is divided into subclasses based on the type of aircraft (single-engine, multi-engine, helicopter, etc.).
The DGCA lays down the criteria for obtaining a CPL, which includes passing the DGCA exams, holding a valid medical certificate, and having experience on the type of aircraft that one intends to fly. The experience requirements vary for each class and sub-class, with the requirement for the highest class being the most stringent.

Pilots must also pass a physical examination and a psychological evaluation. Finally, pilots must demonstrate that they have the necessary skills to safely fly an aircraft.
