Commercial Pilot License (CPL) Air Regulations Classes

Commercial Pilot License (CPL) Air Regulations Classes in accordance with DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) are the regulations enforced by the government of India to ensure air safety and airworthiness of aircrafts.

The DGCA divides CPL Air Regulations Classes into three categories: Aircrafts with maximum certified takeoff mass of less than 5700 kg, Aircrafts with maximum certified takeoff mass of more than 5700 kg and Aircrafts with maximum certified takeoff mass of more than 12500 kg. Each class is divided into subclasses based on the type of aircraft (single-engine, multi-engine, helicopter, etc.).

The DGCA lays down the criteria for obtaining a CPL, which includes passing the DGCA exams, holding a valid medical certificate, and having experience on the type of aircraft that one intends to fly. The experience requirements vary for each class and sub-class, with the requirement for the highest class being the most stringent.

Amazing instructors. Course is properly structured for the most part. The only irk is the IT side of the institute. Have to submit forms and then text people just to get recordings of classes you’ve missed. IT guy usually take very long to reply after multiple messages.

The requirements for obtaining a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) are as follows:
i. The applicant must be at least 18 years of age.

v. The applicant must have a minimum of 200 hours of flying experience.
vi. The applicant must pass the DGCA written examination, practical examination and oral examination.

vii. The applicant must have a valid Radio Telephony Operators License.
viii. The applicant must have an Instrument Rating on the type of aircraft for which the CPL is sought.
