What to Expect During the CAE Cadet Pilot Program

The Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Cadet Pilot Program is a program designed to teach cadets the fundamentals of aviation. The program is divided into three phases: Orientation, Primary, and Advanced. During Orientation, cadets learn the basics of aviation and its history, as well as the CAP's mission and operations. The Primary phase focuses on flying fundamentals, such as preflight checks, takeoffs, landings, turns, and stalls. During the Advanced phase, cadets will learn more complex maneuvers and navigation, as well as instrument flying. The program culminates in the solo flight, where the cadet will take off and land the airplane on their own.
