The aviation industry has always been an attractive career prospect for many individuals. Becoming a pilot is a dream that many people harbour and the opportunity to pursue this dream has become more accessible in recent years. In India, there are many opportunities to become a pilot after passing 10th grade, ranging from military to commercial aviation.
The qualifications required to become a pilot after 10th in India depend on the type of aviation one wants to pursue. For military aviation, a candidate needs to have passed 10th grade with Physics and Mathematics. They also need to appear for the National Defence Academy (NDA) exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The exam is a written test followed by an interview. Once the candidate clears both the tests, they are selected for the training period in the National Defence Academy.
For commercial aviation, the minimum qualification required is 12th grade with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. After completing 12th grade, the candidates must appear for the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). This is a written test followed by a practical test. Those who clear the tests are then selected for the pilot training programme. After the successful completion of the training, the candidates can apply for a Commercial Pilot's License (CPL) from the DGCA.
In addition to these qualifications, the candidate must have an eye-sight of 6/6 with or without glasses and the ability to speak English fluently. They should also be physically fit and free from any medical conditions that can hinder their performance.
The pilot training programmes available in India include courses such as Private Pilot License (PPL), Commercial Pilot License (CPL), Instrument Rating (IR), and Multi-Engine Rating (ME). The duration of the course and the fees vary depending on the institute offering the course. Most institutes also provide loan facilities to help students pursue the course.
Once the pilot has obtained the CPL, they can apply for a job in the aviation industry. Airlines in India usually recruit pilots for their operations. The salary of a pilot varies depending on the airline and their experience. However, the average salary of a pilot in India is around Rs 4.5 lakhs per annum.
In conclusion, becoming a pilot after 10th grade in India is not an impossible feat. With the right qualifications and training, one can become a part of the aviation industry and embark on a successful career.
