Complete Information - What Documents are Required for a DGCA Class 1 Medical Exam for Pilots: A list of the required documents pilots must provide to complete the medical examination. (Reference: Pilot Career)

Every pilot must take a medical examination to qualify for a DGCA Class 1 medical certificate, which is required to fly a commercial aircraft. The medical examination is conducted by an approved medical examiner, which could be a general physician or an aviation medical examiner. Before attending the medical examination, pilots must ensure they have all the necessary documents.
The documents required for the DGCA Class 1 medical exam for pilots are:
1. The DGCA Form 1A- Medical Certificate for Airmen: This form is to be filled and signed by the pilot and countersigned by the medical examiner. It is an information sheet about the pilot’s medical history and must be filled out accurately.
2. Identity proof: Pilots must carry a valid identity proof such as a government-issued identity card, passport, or driver’s license.
3. Photograph: A passport-sized photograph is also required for the medical examination.
4. Eye test form: To ensure that the pilot is in good physical health, they must submit an eye test form.
5. ECG/ Echo report: Pilots must also provide an electrocardiogram (ECG) or echocardiogram (echo) report to the medical examiner.
6. Medical clearances: Pilots must carry medical clearances from a doctor if they have any medical conditions or have undergone any medical treatments.
7. X-ray reports: Pilots must also carry X-ray reports of the chest and abdomen if they have had any medical procedures or treatments related to those areas.
8. Blood test reports: Pilots must also provide recent blood test reports to the medical examiner for the examination.
9. Vaccination records: Pilots must also provide vaccination records to the medical examiner, which must be updated every two years.
10. Medical certificate from the previous medical examination: Pilots must also submit the medical certificate issued by the previous medical examiner for the medical examination.
11. Any additional documents: Pilots must also carry any additional documents related to their medical history or treatment.
After submitting all the required documents and undergoing the medical examination, the medical examiner will issue the DGCA Class 1 medical certificate to the pilot, if they qualify all the criteria. The medical certificate is valid for a period of one year, after which the pilot must renew the certificate by undergoing a medical examination again.
It is important to note that the medical examiner may ask for additional documents depending on the medical condition of the pilot. Therefore, it is important for pilots to be prepared with all the required documents before attending the medical examination.
In addition to the documents, the pilot must also be prepared to answer all the questions asked by the medical examiner related to their medical and flying history. Pilots must also remember to bring their logbook, which is essential for the medical examination.
The DGCA Class 1 medical examination is an important step in the process of becoming a pilot. It is the responsibility of the pilot to carry all the necessary documents and answer all the questions asked by the medical examiner honestly and accurately. This will help the medical examiner to assess the pilot’s physical and mental health and issue the medical certificate if they qualify all the criteria.
