The average salary of a commercial pilot in India after 12th PCB or Pre-University Certificate in Biology is approximately Rs. 3 to 5 lakh per annum. Salary may vary depending on the type of aircraft, experience and place of employment.

In order to become a commercial pilot, one needs to obtain a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). To obtain a CPL, a candidate must pass 12th PCB, complete a two-year approved pilot training programme and get a Class-1 medical certificate.

A pilot training programme usually consists of 200 hours of flying, including 10 hours of solo flying, and the rest of the hours are divided between dual flying, night flying, and instrument flying. During the training, the student is taught aircraft systems, navigation, meteorology, aircraft performance, radio navigation, and other related topics.

After completing the training and obtaining the CPL, a candidate is eligible for a job as a commercial pilot. He/she must then appear for an interview with a airline company. The selection process involves an aptitude test and a personal interview.

Once selected, a commercial pilot typically starts his/her career as a co-pilot. The salary of a co-pilot is around Rs. 2.5 lakh to Rs. 4.5 lakh per annum. After having gained some experience and flying hours, the co-pilot is promoted to the post of a Captain. The salary of a Captain is approximately Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 15 lakh per annum.

Apart from salary, a pilot also gets other benefits, such as free travel on the airline's flights, medical insurance, and a housing allowance. Some airlines also provide their pilots with other perks like free meals and a uniform allowance.
