What Are the Different Types of Pilot Licenses After 12th in India

India has a wide range of pilot licenses available after 12th grade. A student can either opt to pursue a commercial pilot license (CPL) or an air transport pilot license (ATPL). Both licenses require a certain amount of flying hours and have their own set of requirements. The CPL is the most common and popular choice among 12th graders. This license enables a pilot to fly commercial aircraft, like an airliner or cargo plane, for commercial purposes. To obtain a CPL, one must have a minimum of 250 hours of flying experience and pass a written and practical exam. On the other hand, the ATPL is a higher level of pilot license. This license allows a pilot to fly large, complex airliners on international routes. To obtain an ATPL, one must have a minimum of 1500 hours of flying experience and pass a written and practical exam. Both licenses require the pilot to pass a medical examination and an aviation English test. After obtaining a license, the pilot must continue to receive regular training and pass periodic tests in order to remain licensed.

Overview - What Are the Different Types of Pilot Licenses After 12th in India

After graduating from 12th grade, many students in India aspire to become a pilot. To become a pilot, you must obtain a pilot license which is issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The DGCA is responsible for regulating the aviation industry in India. There are several types of pilot licenses available in India, each of which requires different levels of training and experience.
The first type of pilot license is a student pilot license, also known as a SPL. This license is issued to students who have completed a basic aviation training program and have passed the DGCA’s exams on aircraft and aviation theory. With a student pilot license, the holder can only fly under the direct supervision of an instructor.
The next type of pilot license is a private pilot license, also known as a PPL. This license is issued to pilots who have completed a more advanced training program and have passed the DGCA’s exams on both aircraft and aviation theory. With a private pilot license, the holder can fly without the direct supervision of an instructor.
The third type of pilot license is a commercial pilot license, also known as a CPL. This license is issued to pilots who have completed an even more extensive training program and have passed the DGCA’s exams on aircraft and aviation theory. With a commercial pilot license, the holder can fly for commercial purposes such as air charter services, air taxi services, aerial photography, and aerial survey.
The fourth type of pilot license is an airline transport pilot license, also known as an ATPL. This license is issued to pilots who have completed the most advanced training program and have passed the DGCA’s exams on aircraft and aviation theory. With an ATPL, the holder can fly for an airline.
Finally, there is the aircraft pilot license, also known as an APL. This license is issued to pilots who have completed a specialized training program and have passed the DGCA’s exams on aircraft and aviation theory. With an aircraft pilot license, the holder can fly specific types of aircraft.
In summary, there are several types of pilot licenses available in India after 12th grade. These include the student pilot license, the private pilot license, the commercial pilot license, the airline transport pilot license, and the aircraft pilot license. Each of these licenses requires different levels of training and experience. To obtain any of these licenses, the applicant must complete the necessary training and pass the DGCA’s exams on aircraft and aviation theory.
