Overview - Air Traffic Control

Air Traffic Control (ATC) is a complex system that coordinates the movement of aircraft in the air and on the ground. It is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and orderly air traffic flow. 1. All aircraft must be flown in accordance with the rules of the air and all applicable federal regulations.

7. All aircraft must be operated in accordance with the procedures and standards prescribed in the FAA’s Airman's Information Manual (AIM).

9. All aircraft must maintain two-way radio communication with air traffic control except when specifically authorized by ATC.
