Overview - Indigo JFO Preparatory Classes

Written Exam (Aviation Knowledge Test):
This assessment evaluates candidates' knowledge of aviation principles and regulations, specifically based on the DGCA CAR SECTION 7 Flight Crew Standards Training and Licensing, SERIES B PART IV. The 'cool off' period, indicating the minimum duration before a candidate can retake the test, is determined by IndiGo and may vary over time.
CASS (Psychometric and Skill Evaluation):
CASS stands for Comprehensive Assessment of Selection Suite, which includes psychometric and skill evaluations. This phase assesses candidates' psychological attributes and practical abilities relevant to the role of a junior first officer (JFO). The number of candidates progressing to this phase depends on IndiGo's hiring needs for JFO positions.
Group Exercise:
Candidates participate in a collaborative activity designed to evaluate teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. This exercise helps assess how candidates interact and work within a team environment.
Personal Interview:
Candidates undergo a one-on-one interview with representatives from IndiGo or CAE. The interview explores candidates' backgrounds, experiences, and motivations, as well as their suitability for the role of a junior first officer.
Aviation Knowledge Test Cool Off Period:
This refers to the minimum waiting period before a candidate can retake the aviation knowledge test. The duration of this 'cool off' period is determined by IndiGo and may vary depending on their policies and requirements.
Results Notification:
Candidates who achieve the minimum passing score, as determined by IndiGo, will receive individual notifications from CAE. Results are not announced immediately after the test; instead, candidates are informed individually about their performance.

Ground Training
The first step in becoming an Indigo Cadet Pilot is to obtain the necessary ground training. This includes courses such as aircraft systems, navigation, meteorology, and regulations. These courses must be taken at an approved and recognized school, and the cost will vary depending on the school you choose. However, you can usually expect to pay around Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 1 lakh for the full ground training.
Flight Training
After you have completed the ground training, the next step is to complete your flight training. This will involve taking a number of flying lessons, as well as passing a number of exams. The cost of flight training will vary depending on the type of aircraft you are flying, as well as the number of hours you spend in the air. However, you can usually expect to pay between Rs. 2 lakhs and Rs. 5 lakhs for the full flight training.
Exams
Once you have completed your ground and flight training, you must then pass a number of exams. These exams are designed to test your knowledge of the various topics you have studied, as well as your flying skills. The cost of these exams will vary depending on the type of exam you have to take, but you can usually expect to pay around Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000 for the full set of exams.
Medical Examination
Before you can become an Indigo Cadet Pilot, you must also pass a medical examination. This will involve a number of tests and exams to ensure that you are medically fit to fly. The cost of this examination will depend on the type of tests you have to take, but you can usually expect to pay around Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 10,000 for the full medical examination.
Licence
Once you have passed all of the training and exams, you will then need to obtain a licence. The cost of this licence will vary depending on the type of licence you need and the country in which you are applying for it. However, you can usually expect to pay around Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000 for the full licence.
Becoming an Indigo Cadet Pilot is an exciting and rewarding experience, but it comes with a number of costs. Understanding what those costs are and how to budget for them is essential for any aspiring pilot.
